Experiential Graphic Design

Each location within this regional network of pediatrics offices is uniquely themed with educational graphic art, providing distinct and memorable associations for patients and families. The emphases for the headquarters location in Raleigh is organized around educational themes of science and technology. The sophistication of the content varies, offering engaging subject matter for all ages. As a comprehensive educational exhibit, the art supports pediatric healthcare objectives for the practice. For care teams, the graphics offer opportunities for discourse, building trust between providers and patients. As a subtle navigation strategy, the organization of content eases patient anxiety during appointments by doubling as wayfinding.

Interior Design

Addressing a growing patient network and incorporating emerging philosophies in healthcare, the flag ship location of this pediatric practice is reimagined through the lens of the patient experience. Considerations for operation efficiency are choreographed with patient navigation and engagement through the physical organization of the space and the deployment of educational art and interactive content. Circulation and treatment areas among ill and well patients are separated but flexible in use, facilitating the inevitable and unpredictable shifts in demand; a post covid reality.

Original, custom wall graphics and an interactive exhibit clarify circulation and enhance the user experience. The content of the art acts as conversational prompts to foster conversation and build rapport among children, caregivers, and physicians.

Education

Bachelor of Architecture
Drexel University

Raised in PA, I studied at Drexel University in Philadelphia while working full-time for a mid-size architecture firm in the area. My wife and I fell in love with NC after visiting, and moved down as soon as we could after graduation. I have been blessed with a variety of experience on projects of many types and sizes. And I’m always hungry for the next challenge!

As architects and designers, we quite literally shape the world in which we live. The truth that every project has an impact on the world beyond itself is a reality that I recognize that as a tremendous responsibility. At the end of each project, I aim to be able to confidently say the world is better than it was before, even if just a little bit.

On my desk you will always find an inspiring quote or two.

When I’m not at work, I love spending time with my wife and keeping up with my boys.
